Florida has been heavily impacted by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The state continues to rank third in the nation in the cumulative number of AIDS cases and second in the nation in the cumulative number of HIV cases.
The Florida Department of Health in Washington County’s (DOH-Washington) HIV/AIDS Program has developed a comprehensive program for preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS and for providing care and treatment to those already infected. This comprehensive approach includes HIV surveillance, education, prevention, counseling, testing, care, and treatment.
HIV screening is available Monday through Friday, and results are back within two weeks. Scheduled appointments are preferred to help decrease your wait time. All services are confidential, and you must return to the clinic to receive your results. If positive results are received clients are referred to another county for medical care, labs and prescriptions. If eligible clients may receive medications at DOH-Washington through the Aids Drug Assistance Program
The purpose of the AIDS Drug Assistance Program is to ensure that underserved and uninsured individuals living with HIV/AIDS have access to life-saving medications.
