Emergency Operations team is a group of professionals within the Florida Department of Health that are responsible for planning for and responding to any disaster or emergency event (natural or man-made) that affects the health and medical infrastructure within the county.
Plans developed by Emergency Operations prepare Florida Department of Health staff to respond to various scenarios such as:
•Mass Prophylaxis
•Special Needs Shelters
•Mass Casualties
•Epidemiological Surveillance & Investigation
•Epidemiological Isolation & Quarantine
During times of catastrophic national incidents the team may deploy to disasters outside the state of Florida. Office of Emergency Operations ensures essential public health services throughout disaster events through coordination with county emergency services agencies, federal, state, and local agencies, local hospitals, and volunteer organizations.
